What is dust mite allergy?

Dust mites are one of the main causes of allergy in humans.

Allergy symptoms commonly occur at night because mites find in the home environment, and particularly in our beds, environmental (humidity and temperature) and food (skin scales) conditions that are very favourable to their growth, thus affecting the quality of life of mite allergy sufferers.

Dermatophagoides Pteronyssinus and Farinae are the main responsible for respiratory allergies.

Useful information

It is thought that the lower the level of environment allergen, the lower the risk of sensitisation or triggering of symptoms in already sensitised individuals.

Mattresses, pillows, sofas, armchairs, carpets, rugs and soft toys are the most common environments suitable for mites.

The use of polypropylene and/or polyester mattress and pillow covers can provide a barrier between humans and dust mites, thus significantly reducing the allergen in the house.

Period of exposure to allergens: all year round.
